Youth AFL

Wests AFC fields girls and boys teams in the AFL SEQ Youth competition.

WHO CAN PLAY?

Youth football is available to those aged between 13.5 years and 17 years. At Wests, we have boys' and girls' teams, and sometimes more than one team for each age group.

WHERE WE PLAY

Youth football games are held on Friday nights and Sundays in SEQLD in a home & away format. Training occurs on the Wests oval at Oakman Park for all teams.

WHAT IS NEEDED

Players are provided with a jersey which is returned to the club at the end of the season. Socks and shorts are to be purchased from the uniform shop prior to the season commencing. Mouthguards and boots are also required. Boots must not have metal studs under any circumstances.

The club provides a mouthguard fitting service at the start of the season, costs of which can claimed back on your private health insurance or you can arrange for this to be done privately.

We also have second hand boots for sale for as little as $5.

Player Health
& Safety

Wests AFC along with all AFLQ Junior football clubs take player health and safety as a priority concern. All of our Junior AFL games have an accredited First Aid representative present.

AFLQ has also release updated concussion guidelines which can be viewed here. The earliest that a player suffering a concussion can return to play is on the 21st day post the concussion incident provided they get medical clearance.

Mouthguards are a strict requirement for any player and we encourage the use of protective headgear for all players.
